What She Said: The Art of Pauline Kael

Producer-Director Rob Garver had an incredible subject in worshipped and demonized New Yorker film critic Pauline Kael. And with forty-three interviews with bankable, contemporary luminaries such as Quentin Tarantino, Robert Towne, Francis Ford Coppola, David O'Russell, Paul Schrader, John Guare, Greil Marcus, Philip Lopate, and Kael’s daughter, Gina James, Garver had richesse of material but no clear through line or story structure, yet. To successfully attract financing, we developed a strategy for the film that preserved the spirit of the story he wanted to tell and the impact he wanted to make about one of the most controversial figures in film criticism.
